New Hosting Location

| Once again we're expanding due to our growing need for hardware power. Other than the last expansion there were multiple issues to cover this time. Despite our quite regular database cleanups the constantly growing player database didn't really fit into the database servers memory anymore. In addition both cores of our world server were quite busy and could hardly manage peaks. The biggest issue was our traffic demand - the daily player peak of 1300-1400 increased our traffic to multiple terrabytes per month whereas only a part of that was covered by the hosting contract. After a long journey of comparing hosting offerings we're now hopefully meassuring up to our requirements. In addition to almost doubling our hardware capacity (see Server Specs page) we're also now ahead of our traffic demands which allows us running the whole setup with different settings. While other private servers try to grow past the 1500 players online border, which turns out to be some sort of mangos design limitation, we closed our invitation system and put our focus on stabilising our current setup in order to provide a lagfree experience. In addition to our two main realm servers we ordered a third machine to provide a platform for the upcoming classic realm. All information about that in the corresponding forum section. The testing has been successful, and we will continue working from our new hoster! |  |

| If you can read this, it means the website transfer was successful. We placed the website on a seperated server, so it will be, well, faster mostly. And how are you liking the recent uptimes? Today we reached 100 straight hours! You will find only few servers that have this kind of uptime combined with the player count. Creating accounts was temporary unavailable because of a mangos preparement for coming expansions, this should be solved now and account management is available again. |  |

| Time for a news update, it's been a while. As you probably have noted, we have decided to add Avy again to the team. I am caught up in work and other things lately, so someone to aid us on a technical level was becoming more and more needed. Avy has done great work for us in the past, and after solving some entry problems internally, our team now has a tech-admin. :) We decided to rent a second server at our current host. Currently both servers will be used to support our main realm, the application load is spread to deliver higher performance gameplay. In a later stadium we will be starting a second 1x rate realm, of which more details can be found in the forums. If you are having troubles logging in right now, set your realmlist to 78.46.201.160. That's it for now, have fun ingame. :) |  |

| Download the patch from this link. After patching, you have to set your realmlist file again to logon.alphawow.net Update notes can be found here. Having problems connecting after the update? Open up [WoW Root]/WTF/Config.wtf with an editor like Notepad. Find the line that says SET realmList "something" and change it to: SET realmList "logon.alphawow.net". See the forums for more information. |  |
